Though antimicrobial textiles have been developed for several decades, developing novel green materials for antimicrobial textiles remains a challenge. Antimicrobial textiles in the market are made from either natural or synthetic antimicrobial fibers. The natural antimicrobial fibers are bio-based, degradable and eco-friendly, whereas their antimicrobial effect is limited and inconsistent from batch to batch. Synthetic antimicrobial fibers possess good effect, but their functional components are normally added in the fibers thus may fade away in washing and lead to environmental pollution by the added agents, such as Ag nanoparticles, ZnO and copper salts.
Recently, we firstly made one discovery that one material ECOLAR® with eco-friendliness is effective to the drug-resistant bacteria within at least 50 generation (bacterial reduction > 99.99%), as well as the influenza A virus subtype H1N1 and H3N2 (inactivation ratio: 99.99%, inactivation logarithmic value >4.0), denoting its promising application as medical materials(Standard: Technical Standard for Disinfection (2002 Ministry of Health P.R.China)).
Meanwhile, ECOLAR , also possess excellent antimicrobial property, achieving high antimicrobial reduction of > 99.99%, > 99.99%, >99.99% and > 99.99% against S. Aureus, K. pneumoniae, C. albicans and Methicillinresistant S. aureus, respectivel(Standard: ASTM E2149 13a 2015).
Based on these discoveries of high-efficiency antiviral/antimicrobial materials that are 100% bio-based and fully degradable, our company aims to develop and produce high efficiency eco-friendly and pleasant anti-viral/antimicrobial materials and explore their applications in personal protection equipment and hygiene products,obtains one manufacturing factory of 5000 m2(Agent production higher than 100 tons per year) and Lab of 500 m2 in mainland of China.
ECOLAR ® Products
ECOLAR® material is a linear polyester produced by bacterial fermentation of natural sugars or lipids. They are produced by bacteria to store carbon and energy. More than 150 different monomers can be combined within this family, resulting in materials with different properties. These plastics are biodegradable and are also used to produce bioplastics.
